Ojúde Ọba Festival
The annual royal durbar of the Ìjẹ̀bú people — one of the most spectacular cultural events in West Africa. Every edition documented. Every moment preserved.
What is Ojúde Ọba?
Ojúde Ọba — literally "the frontage of the king's palace" — is the annual festival held in Ìjẹ̀bú-Ode in honour of the Awùjalẹ̀, the paramount ruler of the Ìjẹ̀bú people.
It is not merely a cultural celebration. It is a constitutional act — the formal presentation of fealty by the Rẹ́gbẹ́rẹ́gbẹ́ families of Ìjẹ̀bú, conducted on horseback in full traditional regalia. Each family rides to the palace in a display of loyalty, identity, and cultural pride that has been maintained for generations.
The festival draws tens of thousands of Ìjẹ̀bú people from across Nigeria and the diaspora — from the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, and beyond. It is a homecoming, a durbar, and a declaration of cultural identity all at once.
Full Blooded Ìjẹ̀bú and Ojúde Ọba Online have documented every edition since OJO launched. No other platform has this archive.
